The three steps differ in length and in how reversible they are. All three exist at practically every operator, and all three sit in the same place in the account.
Step one: the break
Twenty-four hours to a few weeks. The account stays in place, access is locked, the balance is untouched. When the time is up it opens again, usually with nothing further to do.
Step two: self-exclusion
Six months to indefinite. Before it expires it can as a rule not be lifted, and that is precisely its purpose. The balance is paid out on request; verification is a precondition for that. Which documents.
Step three: closure
The account is dissolved for good. The balance belongs paid out first — afterwards it becomes laborious. An open bonus wagering requirement lapses with the closure, which is in the terms and is rarely read.
How it goes
- Withdraw the balance firstBefore any lock or closure. After it, this is a support case rather than a click.
- Find the setting in the accountUnder “responsible play”, “limits” or “close account”.
- Get it confirmed in writingAn email with a date and a duration is the record that the lock is in place.
- Keep the confirmationIf the account turns out to be reachable again, that is the starting point for a complaint.
What remains after closure
Certain records have to be kept — payment transactions and verification documents fall under retention periods. A closure is therefore the end of access, not the disappearance of the paperwork. Where to find help, and how the OASIS exclusion system works.
